About the Team Emotional And Social Intelligence Survey ( TESI )

Team Emotional And Social Intelligence Teams are the source of most of the productivity, creativity and reliability in organizations. Work and play are both successful – or not – because of the quality of teams performing the mission at hand. Understanding and developing the behaviors of success requires that team members develop and utilize the seven ESI skills measured by the TESI® and explained in our book, The Emotionally Intelligent Team. Powerful use of these seven skills is the path necessary for your team to experience the four results shown in the Collaborative Growth Team Model and the universally sought after benefits of sustainable productivity and emotional and social well-being for the team and its members. This journey can create profound benefits for team members, teams and their organizations.

Sample TESI® Report

TESI® is the Collaborative Growth Team Emotional and Social Intelligence Survey™. It creates the opportunity for a team 360 – that is each member of the team rates the team's skills from his or her perspective. They answer questions such as "Our team continues to be hopeful when challenged.” and “Our team members steer clear of getting even." Reports are then available on the entire team, and on subgroups, or smaller groups within the team, those sub-groups might be based on gender or age groupings or on status such as supervisors compared to managers. This allows all team members and the leaders to understand the levels of identification with the team, satisfaction, engagement, and perceived skills in areas such as communications and conflict resolution.

The TESI® Report provides a graphical display and description of the current levels of emotional and social intelligence in your team from the perspectives of the team members who completed the TESI® Survey. The report offers unique insights and points ways for understanding your current strengths and weakness as a team and to strategically choose where to enhance your skills. Through this combination of awareness and action your team is poised to achieve greater productivity and each team member has the opportunity to improve his or her own teamwork and personal well-being. Your team will be a star performer when you combine understanding your current performance with commitment to enhance the skills that will make the most difference in accomplishing your mission.

TESI® provides team information. Because teams are made up of individuals, teams perform much better when individuals focus on understanding and developing their own emotional and social intelligence. The best way to do that is to work with the EQ-i® and the EQ 360® or similar other tools. We find the combination to provide a highly useful set of tools and complementary data.

Emotional Intelligence Core Skill Comparison Chart Subgroups within a team may see their team very differently. For example, this team of 29 leaders was composed of three different roles – leads, supervisors and then managers. Note how differently they scored on four of TESI's® seven scales

The BEST news is each of these scales can be improved. See the progress this team made over six months! There were two key functions in this team administrative and operations. The two views of the team and their progress are pictured below.
